Travel eSIM troubleshooting

Travel eSIM not working abroad? Connection checks

Start with the plan record and the phone’s active data line before changing advanced settings. A missing profile, no network signal, and signal without internet point to different checks. Deleting the eSIM too early can make recovery harder.

Check the plan before the phone settings

Open the purchase record on Wi-Fi. Confirm that the plan covers the current country, has started, has data remaining, and has not reached its validity limit. Read any activation deadline or first-network rule. A profile can be installed correctly while its data package is inactive, exhausted, or outside the destination list.

If the provider reports an outage or the listed network has no service in the current location, repeated setting changes will not fix it. Move to a location with a clearer signal if practical and keep offline access to addresses, tickets, and support instructions.

Review the active line without deleting the profile

Make sure the travel eSIM line is enabled and selected for mobile data. Follow its instructions for data roaming. Check that airplane mode is off, or toggle it once to make the phone register again. A restart can also clear a stalled connection without removing the profile.

Leave network selection on automatic unless the plan names a specific network or support asks you to choose one. Do not invent an APN. If the provider supplies APN values, copy them exactly and record the old setting before making a change.

Give support enough detail to isolate the problem

Record the country, phone model, operating-system version, time the problem began, and the exact symptom. Screenshots of the selected data line, signal state, and non-sensitive plan status can help. Hide account details and device identifiers before sharing them.

Never send the eSIM QR code, activation link, password, or full device identifiers in a public post. Contact the provider through its official support channel. Keep the profile installed until support confirms that deletion or replacement is required.

Frequently asked questions

What travelers ask

Why does my eSIM show signal but no internet?

The phone may be using the wrong data line, the plan may require data roaming, or the allowance or validity may have ended. Check the plan record and mobile-data selection before changing network or APN settings.

Should I delete and reinstall an eSIM that is not working?

Not as an early troubleshooting step. Activation codes can be single-use, and deletion may require provider support to recover the profile. Check plan status and phone settings first.

Why does my travel eSIM say no service?

Confirm that the line is enabled, the plan covers the current country, and activation is complete. Then check local signal and network-selection instructions. Contact the provider if the listed networks remain unavailable.

Does data roaming need to be on for a travel eSIM?

Many travel plans require roaming on their own line, but follow the selected plan’s instructions. This setting is separate for each SIM, so keep roaming off on the primary line unless you intend to use its roaming service.
